Scarborough Renaissance Festival

Scarborough Renaissance Festival located in Waxahachie, Texas is truly a place where you can step back in time. This was my first visit and the kids first time as well. The Festival runs early April through Memorial Day each year. You still have another chance to catch their 2019 season! It is open Saturday, Sunday, and Memorial Day from 10-7. Located in Waxahachie, it is an easy drive from anywhere in the DFW Metroplex. Discount tickets are available, and details are available on their website.

The 37 year old Scarborough Renaissance Festival is held on 35 acres, so be ready to walk! The kids loved visiting all of the shops, watching the jousting, going through the maze, and riding the elephants. We also spent quite a bit of time in the Petting Zoo and visiting with the Unicorns. You never know what you will stumble upon, from mermaids to shows, there is something for everyone.

My best tip is to take cash with you. There are a lot of activities to do that are included in your general admission; however, I did not realize there are many activities that only accept cash. My advice is set a budget on how much you want to spend on these activities before you go. We learned that quickly because there is so much fun stuff to do! We let the kids have some spending money for the shops and then did the petting zoo, the maze, a game, and the rode elephant. Also, buy the map, it is worth it!

The rain was catching up with us while we were there, but we had a great time. The kids loved it! The pictures say it all. This was a great place to spend a Saturday!
